Subject: GDPR Concerns Regarding New FAI/DDSL Player Registration System

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well. I want to address a matter of utmost importance regarding the Dublin and District School Boy/School Girls League (DDSL) player registration system.

As you are probably aware, this new season brought with it new requirements from the DDSL and FAI for online registration of children's data, including passport/photo ID submission. After we were given access to the system, we became concerned with how the DDSL and the FAI had implemented these platforms.

Your privacy and protecting your child's personal information are of the utmost importance to us, and we are acutely aware of our GDPR obligations. Our primary concern has always been to ensure a safe return to football for our members and we have been working hard to make that happen.

We subsequently made a submission to the Data Protection Commission (DPC) and asked you not to register on the DDSL platform until we had more information. Our submission is now part of an active investigation by the DPC into General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) policies and registration procedures employed by the FAI and DDSL. We are confident that the DPC findings in the near future will vindicate our position and we want to thank you for your support in us making this stance.

With that objective achieved, we are now committed to getting back to play.
Our children have missed the start of the season and now we feel it is only right for them to return to the playing pitches. This involves registering on the DDSL system at https://ddslweb.sportlomo.com/, and we are asking you to register as soon as you can so we can get the teams back playing as soon as possible.

We know you may still have concerns, and if you do, please send your concerns to the DPC at info@dataprotection.ie or make an inquiry for personal information at admin@ddsl.ie.
Ardmore Rovers will continue to keep you informed of any developments related to this important matter, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a secure and enjoyable environment for your child to participate in sports.

Our club has a long and proud history, spanning over 40 years, as a cherished part of our community. We are absolutely committed to safeguarding its existence for many years to come.

Thank you for standing with us during this complex and challenging period. Your unwavering support during these challenging times is invaluable. We deeply appreciate your dedication to our club and your trust.

Sincerely,
Ciaran O'Connor
Chairperson
Ardmore Rovers FC
