Ardmore Rovers End Of Season Presentations 2023

Ardmore Rovers End Of Season Presentations 2023

A R2 Jul 2023 - 16:58

The Ardmore Rover End Of Season Presentations for 2023 took place on the 24th June

Ardmore Rovers celebrated the end of the 2022/23 season in style last Saturday, June 24th, as they held their End of Season Presentations in St. Kilians Community School Sports Hall.

There was a fantastic turnout of players, parents, guardians, grandparents and siblings on site to celebrate each team and their Club Person of the Year winner, it was fantastic to see such great support for the club and we give big thanks to all those who came along.

Each Year two special awards are given out, firstly the Cobbe Family Cup, which celebrates a team who have achieved alot in the season despite having alot of challenges throughout and this year was no exception with the U18 Major Sunday team getting the accolade. Coaches, Ian Wheeler and Trevor Craig had coached the lads from U8 to U18, were joined this season by Grant Walker, and had managed to keep them playing at a very high standard including this season although they had to deal with alot of injuries to a small squad throughout the year, they still managed to come runners up in their league, losing in the play off final, and made it to the semi final of the National Cup only to lose in the last 10 minutes with 3 injured players sitting on the bench. Well deserved winners of the Cobbe Cup, this team are a credit to their coaches, parents and our club.

The other award presented was the Ardmore Rovers F.C. Perpetual Trophy for Personality of the Year which was presented to a very worthy recipient in Chris Gallagher who received the trophy from Chairman, Ciaran O'Connor. Chris came into the Ardmore Family in 2013 (10 Years Ago) with a group of 6-year-olds in the Cubs and the following season not only was he involved at under 8 level but also found time to be involved with a second team at under 11. Now if that wasn’t enough by 2021 he was actually involved with three teams with the introduction of the Girls Section. Behind the scenes he also joined the Executive of the club in 2019, as the club Registrar, which is not a Job for the feint hearted. In between managing, Coaching and Registering over 700 kids and Adults, he has also been heavily involved with every facet of the Ardmore organisation such as Trials, Coaching, Mini world Cups and more recently, our digital side which involves the Registration Website Clubforce. Chris has and continues to carry out these Vital roles for the Ardmore Family in a quiet, unassuming and efficient manner with no fuss or fanfare. He is and will always be willing to volunteer to help and always with a smile and that helpful personality of his. He is a pure Gentleman and is held in very high esteem by all and anyone involved in the club and anyone who has come into contact with him will fully understand that Statement.
